December 2015

Here’s to a great 2016…

2015

Last year I wrote a similar post about my December plans. It’s probably my favourite month of the year. I love Christmas and I feel that the Christmas cheer starts the minute December does. I don’t like to engage in it too much before December but the odd little bit sneaks in. I just started my shopping this past weekend and I’ve bought my first present. So my plans for December are:

  1. Wish my friend Emsy a happy birthday today. Second last of the group to turn 28.
  2. My mam’s birthday is the tomorrow & we’re planning on going to see the Hunger Games at some stage this week.
  3. Think of ideas for what I might like for Christmas. My family always appreciate ideas, as do I.
  4. Take a trip to New York with some of my friends for shopping, drinking & soaking up the Christmas spirit. I can’t wait. I’ve only been once before but I love New York.
  5. Welcome my lovely friend Kiara and her little family home from Australia on the 9th after over a year. I still can’t believe they’re coming home and CANNOT wait to see them.
  6. Go to see the Riptide Movement in Whelan’s on the 11th.
  7. Possibly take part in The 12 Pubs of Christmas on the 12th. I haven’t done it before so I’ll decide closer to the time.
  8. Plenty of Christmas shopping.
  9. Christmas nails…it’s ridiculous how much I look forward to them.
  10. Christmas dinner & drinks with my friends from work/college.
  11. Kris Kindle night with my girls. A few drinks in one of our houses swapping presents followed by a night out.
  12. Go to the 2FM concert on the 23rd in the 3 Arena. There are lots of different acts playing including Hozier, The Riptide Movement (again! Stalking much?) and Gavin James. I’m really excited to see Gavin James. I should have seen him twice this year already but keep missing him, so hopefully third times a charm.
  13. Wrapping my presents.
  14. Enjoy drinking, eating and generally being merry.
  15. Spending Christmas Day with my lovely family.

Anyone else planning out their December?

Christmas Night 2013

Christmas 2013 – Kiara, Emma, Jennie, Jade and Ali (me)

Christmas 2014 - Me, Jade, Jennie & Emma

Christmas 2014 – Me, Jade, Jennie & Emma

My friends and I have a night out every Christmas where we swap Kris Kindle presents and have a few drinks. We’ve changed it up from year to year but we’ve been doing it for so long. The only thing we haven’t always done is take a picture of all of us on the night. We started taking a photo the last couple of years so I’m sharing the past two years now.

Unfortunately our little group started with 6 and dropped to 5 a few years ago because one of the girls moved to Australia. Last year we had 5 and now we’ve lost one more as she moved to Australia last September and we’re down to 4. Here’s hoping we don’t lose anymore friends Down Under before next Christmas.

I absolutely love December. I usually refuse to engage with the idea of Christmas before December, as it ruins it for me if it goes on too long. I’m secretly envious of the people who have all of their presents wrapped and ready to go before December starts, but I also think I would feel cheated out of the atmosphere if I was that prepared. I’ve started shopping but I’ve quite a way to go. I though I’d share my plans for this festive month.

I plan to (note I’m not making any promises):

1. Wish my Mam a very big happy birthday tomorrow.
2. Do a bit of a clear out and get rid of some old unused things before I add any Christmas gifts I receive.
3. Take a trip to Cork for the third instalment of my evil wicked step mother’s 60th Birthday, hosted by The Lord Mayor of Cork, no less. That evil wicked bit was a joke…kinda! 😉
4. Get lots of work done to wrap up 2013 and get 2014 off to a good start.
5. Buy the rest of my Christmas presents.
6. Share some hints and tips for what I want for Christmas (I know they’ll be much appreciated).
7. Welcome Dane home for over 2 weeks!!! Kind of excited!
8. Finish up work stress free with the first week in January prepared and ready to go.
9. Get Christmas nails done. I’m already thinking red & gold.
10. Have an amazing Kris Kindle night with my girls. I see Christmas hats and plenty of cocktails.
11. Wrap presents, eat chocolate and generally enjoy the festive season…oh and relax a little.

What are your plans for December?
